What’s Going On? The Past, Present and Future of Black-Asian Relations
Please join the Hella Heart Oakland Giving Circle and The Brotherhood of Elders Network for an important conversation with distinguished scholars and activists:

Michael Omi (UC Berkeley Ethnic Studies Department, Asian American and Asian Diaspora Studies) https://ethnicstudies.berkeley.edu/people/michael-omi-1/

Jason Seals (Department Chair of Ethnic Studies and Professor of African American Studies, Merritt College; Brotherhood of Elders Network) https://www.merritt.edu/afram/jason-seals/

Alvina Wong (Asian Pacific Environmental Network http://apen4ej.org/who-is-apen/ and Oakland Chinatown Coalition)

Panelists will discuss the historical context of Black and Asian relations - tensions, solidarity movements, and issues facing us today. You’ll learn specific actionable items each of us can do to combat Anti-Asian violence.

The event is FREE of charge, though we ask for donations to support the Oakland Chinatown Coalition for their intersectional work promoting safety in Oakland’s Chinatown. Hella Heart Oakland will match donations up to $2500.

Donations can be made here: https://www.classy.org/give/326018/#!/donation/checkout . Please note HHO Event in the comment section.
